agent that prevents or relieves spasms


ANTI-SYPHILITIC :
agent that cures or relieves syphilis or venereal diseases


ANTI-THROMBOTIC :
prevents blood clots


ANTO-SCORBUTIC :
cures or prevents scurvy


ANTI-TOXIC :
neutralizes poison from the system


ANTI-TUSSIVE :
inhibits the cough reflex helping to stop coughing


ANTI-VIRAL :
opposing the action of a virus


APERIENT :
mild laxitive without purging


APERITIVE :
herbs that stimulate the apetite


APHRODESIAC :
an agent that stimulates sexual desire


AROMATIC :
an agent taht contains volatile, essential oils which aids digestion and relieves gas


ASTRIGENT :
an agent that has a constricting or binding affect, i.e., one that checks hemorrhages or secretions by coagulation of protiens on a soft surface


ATHEROSCLEROSIS :
a process in which fatty substances (cholesteral and triglycerides) are deposited int he walls of meduim to large arteries, eventually leading to blockage of the artery


ATONIC :
wothout normal tension or tone


AYURVEDIC :
a traditional system of Indian medicine, which literaly means "a science of life"
