"Discover the creative engineer in you"

This TE@CH webpage is intended to provide information and online resources on engineering career for pre-university students, parents, teachers, school counselors, and the general public.

why engineering is so important?

"... if you want to solve most problems the world has, what you need to be is an engineer, because so many of the issues have the technology component, not just science component, but a human sculptured engineered-technology component, and we need the best and the brightest coming out from the K12 (pre-university) to deal with renewable energy, global warming, a better internet and many more issues, so the huge engineering challenges." - Prof Anita K. Jones, 2007 IEEE Founders Medal recipient.

why engineering is important to Malaysia's economy?

Malaysia’s sustained competitive edge is not guaranteed.

As with many developing countries entering the global economy, Malaysia will need to transform itself into an innovative economy in which competitiveness is no longer based primarily on mass production, low cost manufacturing efficiency, relatively unskilled labor, and low wages to continue to prosper in the decades ahead. Malaysia needs an economy where science, technology, and engineering are integrated into the production process and where creativity, imagination, knowledge, and design capability are embodied in well-educated skilled workers who are the main source of national prosperity and wealth.

Taken from World Bank Report: "Malaysia and the Knowledge Economy : Building a World-Class Higher Education System", March 2007.
