"The Ultimate Camaro: the Super Sport" - Chevrolet    The Super Sport is most definitely the ultimate production Camaro (excluding the rare COPOs). Available as an option to the standard Z28, it was available with the 5.7 Liter, 350ci, 295hp engine, the 6.6 Liter (I think....), 396ci, 325hp engine and the other aluminum 396 at 375hp. More engine info can be found at the Camaro Performance Numbers page. The Super Sport Camaro was always* the badest Camaro around and not many Mustangs would rev their engines next to this machine at a red light. The Super Sport wasn't always the most sold model, but in most people's eyes it was the dream Camaro and the ultimate pony car.

The Super Sport has not been an option or seperate model for the Camaro's life. The entire Third Generation of Camaros never saw Super Sports. For what reason, I have no clue; I wish I did because that would be an ultimate collection. Luckily, when Chevrolet unvealed the Fourth Generation of Camaros, it brought back the Super Sport. They must have realized that people weren't too happy about its "disappearance". Thank God it is still going now, because it still attracts Camaro lovers and since the future of the Camaro is in jeopardy, attraction is exactly what the Camaro needs if it wants to last beyond the 2002 model year....

Here are two very nice pictures of a 1996 Camaro SS. Click here to see where I got it.
