The Stol
Most people prefer to sit on a pillow
while doing a runecasting. A "stol" is a
pillow that has been specially crafted,
often embroidered, beaded, or handpainted
with runic signs. Customarily, the stol is
placed at the negative end of the cremonial
rune cloth-generally next to the wall toward
the west.
