Ceremonial Rune Cloth

To do ceremonial runecasting, you need a
ceremonial rune cloth. You can make one out of
any white or ivory natural fabric, though linen
is traditional. The size of the cloth is as wide
as your outstretched arms, from fingertip to
fingertip (a measurement called a fathom). The
cloth's length is as long as the distance from
your feet to your fingertips when your arms are
stretched out high above your head.
Orient the cloth so that its central point is
located one-third of the way up the rig. Your
view along the rig is toward the longer part
of the room. The wall you are facing is
considered positive, and the wall behind you
negative. Using a simple compass, this means
that you are correctly oriented when east is
positive (in front of you), and west is negative
(behind you), with north toward your left side
and the south to your right. The direction along
the rig toward the positive wall is "up." Moving
toward the negative wall along the rig is "down."
Symbolic objects may also be placed on the four
corners of both the larger ceremonial cloth and
the smaller casting cloth.
