Sonic Adventure 2

Hey! Who replaced my shampoo with black hair dye?

Intro:
Sonic's 10th birthday was rolling closer and closer, so Sonic Team decided to throw him a party - by throwing him into mortal danger in a new game. Sonic Advanture 2 was released on Sonic's 10th birthday (well, four days before in Japan). A few special 10th anniversary collectors editions of the game were released, which contained a gold CD of classic Sonic tunes, a book all about the blue 'un and a coin with his featires embossed on it. Oh, and the game itself, of course.

Story:
After finding his grandfather's diary, Dr. Eggman found out about a top secret weapon, held by G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nation), the military. After breaking in to find it, Eggman finds the last thing he was expecting - a hedgehog the splitting image of Sonic! This hedgehog, Shadow, proclaimed himself to be the Ultimate Life Form, and instructed the doctor to gather all seven Chaos Emeralds (for a change) and meet him on the space station ARK.

Meanwhile, a more familiar hedgehog is having problems of his own - arrested by GUN for crimes he has not commited, he breaks out and heads for safety. But how long will it be until he meets his twisted counterpart?

The Game:
Sonic Adventure 2 plays in the same style as Sonic Adventure, but instead of playing through the story for each character, you choose either the Hero or Dark sides of the story to play. Choosing Hero, you'll play through high speed levels as Sonic, shoot-em-up mech levels with Tails (in his new walker, the Cyclone), and emerald shard hunt-a-thons as Knuckles. Choosing the Dark side will give you the same format, but you'll play as Shadow, Eggman and Rouge in the hero's parts respecively.

Gone are the level hubs from Sonic Adventure, instead you play level to level with cutscenes moving the story along. The two sides of the game add up to give you the whole plot, often crossing over. During the game, you collect powerups like you did in Sonic Adventure, but some are hidden and do extras not necessary, but still useful, towards the main game.

Sonic Adventure 2 has five missions for each level, some easy, some hard. For each mission, and level, you are graded for your efforts. Complete all the missions and get all A grades, and unlockable features in the game become available.
