Sonic 3D Flickies' Island

Having recently seen Hitchcock's film 'The Birds', Sonic was well and truely terrified...

Intro:
After the ill-fated Sonic X-Treme went belly up, SEGA employed Traveller's Tales to make Sonic 3D Flickies Island on both the Mega Drive and the Saturn. The game itself pays homage to Flicky, the pre-Sonic game featuring (you guessed it) Flicky.

Story:
The mysterious Flicky birds, who happily live on the none too originally titled Flickie's Island, have many links with the Chaos Emerald. In fact, they posses the power to pass into other dimensions with the handy Dimension Rings. Eggman discovered this, and decided to turn them all into badniks and utilise this power to get into the dimension the Chaos Emeralds are usually in.

Sonic, dropping by the island to say hi to his feathery chums, discovers the island populated by badniks instead! Thus, Sonic embarks on a quest to free all his Flicky chums and escort them back to their home dimension, out of Eggman's reach!

The Game:
The basic idea for the game is taken from Flicky: you rescue the bird by smashing the badnik it's in, then run past the bird. It starts following you, and you must escort it to the Dimension Ring. Once you've rescued all five Flickies from that area, you move on.

Every three stages, there's the complementary boss showdown with Eggman. To get Chaos Emeralds, you must find Tails and Knuckles, who are rather aimlessly hanging around on each level. Give them 50 rings, and they take you to the special stage. Get all 7 emeralds, and you can challenge the final boss.
