The multi link is a suspension configuration that attempts to offer the geometric and kinematic advantages of the short-long arm while providing more space efficiency. This suspension concept can be executed in many different ways, therefore it is sometimes difficult to determine if a configuration is multi link or not. The main advantage of the multi link configuration is that each link and its associated bushings can be designed and oriented in the best possible way to benefit the vehicle's dynamic characteristics. The obvious disadvantage of this concept is its cost and complexity. |
