1997-98 Annual Report
Recommendations for 1998-99 Season
We should once again approach the Springlands Tavern to continue as major sponsors of the club with a sponsorship of $ 7,000.00 for which they will have naming rights for the club and all afternoon and women's grade teams.
An additional sum of $ 2,000.00 be raised through targeting strategic "sponsoring partners", these partners would be businesses who would contribute to the club on a performance basis, by way of commissions for sales or leads. These sponsors would pay a nominal fee to cover costs of advertising in the club newsletter and then additional amounts for any sales to club members.
That we resume an active fund-raising programme incorporating the whole club, with a target of $ 2,000.00 minimum to be raised excluding a major raffle or meat raffles. Some possible activities include; Casino Evening, Pizza Sales, McDonalds Evening, Derby Race Night, Indoor Cricket Tournament, Celebrity/Bottle Auction
Subscriptions be reduced by $5.00 in Senior and 2nd Grades, with deposit due by November 1st and the balance by December 19th. Strict non-payment penalties to be enforced including interest on overdue subs and no play for offending members. The use of casual players to be discouraged in all teams unless casual players pay a fee on the day they play.
Teams should be entered in the following grades; Senior (1), Second Grade (1), Third Grade (2), Women's Grade (1), Junior Grades (as needed)
Coloured shirts be purchased for the women's team, design to be decided in consultation with women's team members.
Dave Win be re-employed as coach of the senior team and also as coaching co-ordinator at the club.
Steps be taken to formalise the clubs structure, especially with regards to a written constitution and regular meetings with input from more club members. The club is now too big for one person to make all the decisions, with all members having a right to influence the future direction and growth of the club.
