Chris and Eve Flashback

Kevin: So Eve you're really going to move out?
(as Eve crosses the room)
Chris: Quicker than you can say palimony (glares
at Kevin)
Kevin: Don't you think we should talk about
this first?
Chris: (turning to Kevin) She has nothing
to say to you.
Kevin: Why don't you let her decide that?
Chris: Look get it through your head Collins,
she doesn't want anymore to do with a dog like you. (both Kevin and Chris
look at Eve)
Kevin: Is that true?
Eve: (nods) Yes.
Chris: (dryly) Better luck next time Rover.
Eve: (handing over the house keys) I think
um, you can take these back.
Kevin: (sighs) Eve please don't do this.
Eve: I don't have a home with you anymore
Kevin. As a matter of fact I don't think I ever did.
(Next scene)
Chris is packing up some of Eve's things as
Kevin pours himself a stiff drink while sitting at a table.
Kevin:(sarcastically) The suitcase is going
to burst open if you don't take some clothes out of it.
Chris: You know pal, I'll cram everything
in here with a trash compactor if I have to as long as Eve doesn't have
a reason to come back here.
Kevin: (looking to Chris)What are you afraid
I'll convince her to forgive me?
Chris: She's just vulnerable enough to listen.
Kevin: (drinking) I happen to love Eve.
Chris: No, you know what you love. You
love keeping your bed warm while you're waiting for Lucy to free herself
up from Scott. You know I knew you were twisted, but I just never
realized how much. Kevin: You don't have all the facts, so why don't you
keep your mouth shut until you do.
Chris: Oh facts, lets see. First you
stalk Felicia Scorpio, then you take the moral low road and you cheat on
Eve. What other facts do I need?
Kevin: (getting up to stand directly in front
of Chris) All this from a man who marries a Ferncliff patient so
he can get his hands on her money.
Chris: You don't understand the first thing
about my marriage to Julie. The same way you never understood what
you had in Eve.
Kevin (angrily) Have.
Chris: No I'm afraid not. She dumped
you pal and I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am because now
I don't have to worry about you flipping out and doing God knows what to
her.
Eve: (coming in the room) Chris knock it off!
I don't ever want to hear you say anything to Kevin like that again.
Chris: (in disbelief) Protecting the guy that
cheated on you, what's that about?
(next scene. Chris is carrying Eve's
bags to the door)
Chris: These things way a ton. What
do you have in here a dead body? If so I hope it's Kevin's.
Eve: (frowns as she looks around the lighthouse)
That's not funny.
Chris: Hey there you go defending him again.
Now I want an answer why. I mean this is ridiculus.
Eve: If it seems like I'm sticking up for
Kevin, it's out of habit.
Chris: So you're not weakening thinking about
forgiving him.
Eve: As hard as this is, I have every intention
of walking out that door.
Kevin: I, uh, found your address book. (handing
it over)
Eve: (they look at each other) Thank you.
Kevin: So what can I say to make you stay?
Chris: That you're moving out.
Kevin: I know what I did was wrong.
Chris: And selfish and stupid and unforgivable.
Kevin: but if you just give me a chance to
explain.
Eve: You had the opportunity to be with Lucy
and you took it. What else is there to explain?
Kevin: I love you Eve.
Eve: I really thought you did, but the truth
is you never got over Lucy. Your heart is waiting at the alter to finish
what you started.
Chris: Come on Eve.
Kevin: Eve please don't leave like this.
Chris: Why? Why is she going to stay
so you can hurt her some more? (looks to Eve) Let's get out of here.
Kevin: Eve you have to believe me. Lucy and
I are over with. We're through.
(Eve gives Kevin a longing look at Chris opens
the door and Lucy is standing on the other side ready to knock on it)
Chris: (laughs dryly) Oh, oh this is perfect.
You know next time you plan on lying to Eve's face like that, why don't
you plan on doing it when your girlfriend's not on her way over.
