Would you like to Sponsor a child in Ozarichi, Belarus?

See our Children page for a number of typical child sponsor profiles (all ones for whom we have successfully found sponsors quite recently) for you to peruse.

If you should wish, after fuller consideration, to follow through this idea, then please do not hesitate to contact us when we can furnish you with a list of children in our files currently awaiting sponsors.

A monthly Standing Order form is enclosed for your use.

WHAT DOES SPONSORSHIP ENTAIL?

Sponsorship would entail setting up a Standing Order to C.C.I.N.'s Westbury bank account for £10.00 per month. The accumulated funds for each child are converted into dollars and taken approximately every 6 months or so DIRECTLY to Belarus by one of the Trustees, for optimum safety.

To help you understand how effective your £10.00 monthly donations will be in buying essential medical supplies and vitamins for the beneficiary children when it reaches Belarus, we can tell you that a semi-skilled worker in rural Belarus may earn as little as £15.00 per month!

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

All sponsored children are affected by radiation and a high percentage of the children chosen come from extremely poor families who are lacking in the basic necessities of life, such as adequate clothing, footwear and a reasonably healthy diet - all vital for sustaining health in their frail medical circumstances.

Each child will be given what it is thought they most need. In some cases this is a specific medicine or treatment (or transport to hospital). In other cases the sponsored child would most immediately benefit from an improved diet (fruit and vegetables), so that their own natural immune system can begin to function normally. Other children need clothing (for warmth in the winter).

TAX CONSIDERATIONS

Another advantage of 'giving' by standing order, as you may already be aware ,is that there are tax savings from sponsors/donors who pay standard (or higher) rates of income tax. If you declare that you are a standard or higher rate tax payer, the charity can reclaim some of the tax paid on your donation. Therefore, for example, for every 10 pounds donated the charity receives a FURTHER £2.80 from the government.

HOW MUCH CONTACT WILL THERE BE WITH THE SPONSORED CHILD?

The sponsor will receive a photograph and a regular update on the child sponsored. Sponsors can write to their sponsored child at any time, via CCIN. The sponsored child or their parents/guardians may write back, again via CCIN. CCIN does not give out the personal addresses of any families.

What if my/our circumstances should suddenly alter and I / we need or wish to stop payments at any point in the future. What happens then?
Will there be any direct contact with my/our sponsored child/ren, and how do my/our moneys reach them?
Do any of my/our donated moneys disappear into administration costs or other invisible overheads?
How do I /we know that the donated moneys will be spent wisely and on the children, concerned?
What if abuses of Sponsor moneys are discovered at the receiving end?
Surely, £10 per month can't make much difference to a family in need or a child with serious medical problems?
Is C.C.I.N. an accredited and efficient Charity and is the Sponsorship Scheme a worthwhile project to support?
