DAY 23 : 3 JUNE 2001
• Moab, USA

Bottoms out

An exciting day of mountain biking beckoned and after much encouragement, we persuaded a reluctant bike-shy Neil to join us - though he did regret his decision later! So what was the highlight of our day? Was it the thrilling speeds and steep trails amidst wonderful scenery? Was it the buffness of our mountain biking guides?? No, it was our dear Becks falling bottom first onto a cactus in mid-pee!! It brought tears of laughter and sympathy pains to all our eyes!!!

...and we got to sleep in a tepee! DAY 25 : 5 JUNE 2001
• San Juan River, Utah, USA

Yee-hah!

The day of Betty and Rustys Cowboy Camp had arrived! Wed all been warned of basic conditions but it turned out to be much better than wed imagined! Betty & Rusty were a one-of-a-kind couple, I hesitate to call them elderly as their obvious zest for life far outshone their ages. They made us all feel very welcome and Rusty kept us thoroughly entertained with his stories and blonde jokes round the campfire!!

Wed also had an enjoyable, if painful, days horse-riding, western style, and ended it with a big party, where the image of our apparently shy Kumiko, bodyshotting a cowboy will forever remain in my memories!
