Parameter Reset behavior. <<

just bought the Encore Electronics Knobby
controller to modulate in real time various
parameters on my ASR-X. The trouble is, when I play
a sequence, the parameter I'm modulating (let's say
filter cutoff on track 5) will be reset to its
original value. So if I tweak the cutoff from 0 to
-> 47, once the sequence loops it automatically
jumps back to 0. Is there a way to keep a parameter
at the last externally assigned value? > >
No,
not when using a hardware control surface with the
ASR-X sequencer playing back in 'loop' mode. This
is a 'feature' of the ASR-X that was hotly debated
some years ago. The ASR-X is indeed resetting the
MIDI CC #'s to the default values at the start of
your sequence. The
behavior you've observed will not be an issue when
either a) adjusting a parameter from the front
panel of the ASR-X using the Value knob or b) using
an external sequencer in conjunction with the ASR-X
and your control surface. An alternative is to make
a linear song with the ASR-X sequencer of sequences
strung together without allowing the song to 'loop'
from bar1. You
might want to review the ASR-X Pro Reference Manual
as there are tables on pages 120-121 documenting a)
MIDI Controller Reception Behavior (also, see
The
ASR-X and MIDI
Controllers)
b)
Reset All Controllers (MIDI CC #121) Reception
Behavior - when Track ParamReset=Off vs. On and c)
Track ParamReset Behavior when a new sound for a
track is selected. |
