There is no System Exclusive documentation specific to the ASR-X that was made widely available prior to the merger of Ensoniq into E-mu. That said, the ASR-X SysEx is said to be similar to that of the MR Series.

From the Introduction and Overview "This document describes the MIDI System Exclusive (SysEx) communication protocol used when the MR-Rack/61/76 (MR) is communicating with an external computer or MIDI device (EXT)."

ASR-X/X Pro Operating System

ASR-X OS 2.67 (EPROM)
Syntaur Productions is under license from E-mu/Ensoniq to duplicate and distribute the OS v2.67 EPROM for the original 'black' ASR-X. They are $34.95, plus a $10.00 "core charge" (refunded to the customer when the old chips are returned.)

Download the operating system update to your computer's hard drive. Double-click the readme file first and follow the instructions.

ASR-X Pro OS 3.04 (PC) at E-mu<>Ensoniq
Download the operating system update to your computer's hard drive. On your computer, DOS-format an HD floppy disk, naming the floppy "ASRXOSDISK" Double-click on the file named "ASRXProOS304.exe" Follow the onscreen prompts to create the ASR-X Pro 3.04 OS disk.
