Editor (Mac) in Classic under OS X
Panther January
31, 2005 ~ ASR-X users running Mac OS X Panther may
find this of interest: It
is possible to establish communications between an
ASR-X and the freeware ASR-X
Editor
(Mac) 569 K by Shehryar
Lasi
using OMS
2.3.8 (Open Music System) within Classic under Mac
OS 10.3.7 (Panther.) This
user has successfully tested communication between
an ASR-X Pro and ASR-X Editor using both an Emagic
MT4 2x4 USB MIDI Interface and a MIDIMAN
UNO 1x1 USB MIDI Interface. Having
installed OMS 2.3.8 within Classic, I built
separate Studio Setup documents in OMS so I could
swap between the Emagic and MIDIMAN hardware MIDI
Interface for testing. Make certain to have
installed within the OMS Folder in your System
Folder for OS 9: the OMS USB Manager installed and
the current driver for your MIDI Interface - in
this example both the M-Audio USB OMS Support and
Unitor Family OMS Driver's were
installed. My
previous attempts to run ASR-X Editor within
Classic under Mac OS 10.2.8 (Jaguar) were
unsuccessful. Some users have reported success
using MIDIbridge9x
to make their legacy Editor/Librarians function
within Classic, but I never invested the time to
troubleshoot such a configuration following my
initial attempts - your mileage may vary
