LCP/LCC Picture Gallery

For those of you in the world who have just signed up for the dear old London College of Print..... sorry Communication, here's a nice selection of shots to see what you and your hard earned cash are in for. It's marvellous! In April 2004, I dusted down my old box brownie, and produced these holiday snaps for your enjoyment. You will, without doubt, enjoy your stay at the good old LCP... er sorry, LCC. I know I have.

London College of Communication
A COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION

Here is a little pic of the very fab London College of Pri... er... Communication. This is where you will you study when you finally arrive in London. It's on the Elephant & Castle roundabout system, which is a very busy intersection of traffic, which accounts for all the noise and soot which swirl around every classroom. In this picture, you can see my white van parked out in front, when one day, I pretended to be a window cleaner, and sneaked in to the college to case the joint. All I came away with was one paper clip. Curses!

London College of Printing
LONDON COLLEGE OF PRINTING

Here's a close up pic of the immediate exterior of the London College of Comm... er... Printing. Oh dear, seems like they still hadn't removed the old sign when I took this photo. What a shame they had to change the name. What a disaster. What a complete cock up. Maybe they'll change it back someday. Meanwhile, here's a photographic reminder of better days.

LCC lobby
ENTRANCE HALL

LCC Lobby and entrance. Metal detectors, sniffer dogs, body searches. No one gets into here alive. The entrance hall is a nice light and airy welcome mat, inviting you into a giant space of artful relaxation. I do wish they would install some nifty escalators to replace those back breaking stairs. Also, I think some flowers and artifacts are needed to brighten up the place and make it less Stalinesque. Maybe the security guards could dress as Butlins Redcoats or Disney characters.

Computer Open Access
OPEN ACCESS COMPUTING

Open Access Computer Area. Absolutely splendid hive of activity. Lots of naughty students looking at chat rooms and football websites. Occasionally, the odd assignment is also researched and constructed in here, but not very often. There are study areas and a brilliant library, with lots of nice kind helpful respectful and friendly librarians on hand...

LCC School of Graphics
SCHOOL OF GRAPHICS

Stupid psychedelic picture I made from a exterior view of the brillant old Graphic School block. This building should be listed, it's very unlike the sixties trash that makes up the rest of the architecture. I dont condone drug taking, but these are the colours you would probably see if you were a typical LCC student on very hard Class-A drugs, with you face pressed against the window of the Printing & Publishing block.

LCC Exhibition Space
COLLEGE ATRIUM

The new main congregation atrium, opened in 2003, is also a perfect space for private views and parties. This is the perspective from the coffee shop, where the daylight portals can create a complex of shadows over your latte. It's such a wonderful arrangement of slopes and stairs. Don't forget to bring your skateboard and graffiti spray.

LCC Canteen
CANTEEN REFECTORY

LCC Canteen, a massive interior that can feed thousands of starving students at once. Believe me, it's worth signing up for LCC just for the food. Never mind going to lectures, you can spend all your time in here, dining on a wonderful range of delicacies, and then nip down to the bar to wash it down with some LCC extra strength lager. Excellent!

LCC Student Bar, Boiler Room
BOILER ROOM STUDENT BAR

Ah yes, I almost forgot. LCC's magnificent Student Bar. Now this is more to the point. It's what the College is really all about. Directions to this door are all you need to know. Campus life at the glorious LCC will see you staggering from this place at closing time in a very disorderly fashion. Stretcher bearers are provided to take you to an awaiting police van.
