Week of May 13 and May 20

Problem solving: logical reasoning, flexible thinking, analogies

Science:  continue Voyage of the Mimi (importance of mathematical and safety considerations in boat design, Morse Code, the need for scientific research, electromagnetism ),  classification of animals (invertebrates and vertebrates) 

Language Arts: study various poems including Life Doesn't Frighten Me Anymore, Another Mountain, Three Haiku, Street Corner Fight, Sometimes I Test People, Growing Pains-all found in The Language of Literature text; read and comprehend "The Mushroom" Check out these poetry websites. They were recommended by our Media Specialist, Mrs. Schreiner.

Research Project: continue animal research in computer lab on May 13 and 17-take notes and do bibliography; word process fictional stories; create Coat of Arms; project due on May 21

Bare Book Portfolios: students will have the opportunity to finish their autobiographies (accompanied by photos) and to make their memoir of this year.  Still available for $3.50.

Our Zoo Atlanta Nightcrawlers trip is on Wednesday, May 15.  Be at school by 5:30 to get on the bus.  Bring your sleeping bag, toiletries, clothes for bedtime and for Thursday, a snack, and money for lunch at McDonald's on Thursday.  Parents will need to pick students up at MU145 (past the gym) at 3:30.
