Grammar   Classes will be reviewing grammar studied throughout the year including subject-verb agreement, capitalization and punctuation.

Spelling and Vocabulary  Students will receive spelling words each Monday beginning after Spring Break. They will need to be prepared for their test each Friday. Vocabulary will come from the novel and "The Hobbit." The version of this classic has been adapted from Tolkien’s original work and is presented to the students in play form.

SCIENCE   Your student will be expected to meet these objectives for the last quarter:

  1. To be able to name the four eras of the geologic time chart and to name the major events in each era.
  2. To be able compare two theories- Plate Tectonics and the theory of continental drift.
  3. To be able to give examples and show an understanding of the adaptations of plants and animals for survival.
  4. To be able to compare asexual and sexual reproduction of plants and animals.
  5. To be able to show and understanding of genetics and to describe the traits that he/she has acquired from parents.
  6. To be able to tell about classification of animals.
  7. To be able to relate the importance of water and to draw and explain the water cycle.
  8. To be able to demonstrate an understanding of a food web and to draw and explain the food pyramid.
  9. To be able to describe the interdependence of plants, animals, and humans to our environment. To be able to show an appreciation of recycling, reusing, and conservation to help protect our Planet Earth.
  10. To be able to name and give examples of animals and plants in each of the biomes.
  11. To complete the lab activities, maintain a science notebook, and to complete the class and home assignments in a responsible way.
  12. To continue exploration of the ocean and its resources through The Voyage of the Mimi.
