Problem solving: logical reasoning, flexible thinking, analogies

Grammar:  practice with subject/verb agreement and capitalization rules

Science:  continue Voyage of the Mimi (desalination of water); genetics-traits, dominant, recessive . . .; classification of living things, particularly plants (parts of a flower--stamen, pistil, ovule, petal, sepal); dissect flowers

Language Arts: 

begin poetry study with elements of poetry.  Read "The Walrus and the Carpenter" by Lewis Carroll.  Check out this on-line poetry site for practice with elements of poetry.  This site has details on elements of poetry.

begin reading "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien (Act One, Scene One)

writing: Can ordinary people go on quests, or are quests just gone on by characters in myths, fairy tales and fantasies? Discuss your ideas.
