The most commonly used treatments would likely be the therapy Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the gluten/casein free (GF/CF) diet.

Applied Behavior Analysis is applied in numerous different ways. However, it is basically teaching complex tasks by breaking them down and reinforcing the right answers and correct behavior. The wrong answers are corrected and aversives are not used for bad behavior. Rather, inappropriate behaviors are redirected, corrected, or ignored. ABA does not only teach appropriate behaviors but other skills such as academic, language, self-help and social skills. ABA is probably the most frequently successful therapy, yet it is not without controversy either- some people believe that the children are simply imitating the tasks to get a reinforcer. It is also often very demanding as many children receive up to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy. Yet, improvement often makes the therapy worth it.

The gluten/casein free (GF/CF) diet is based on curing Leaky Gut Syndrome. The proteins gluten and casein have combinations of amino acids that are particularly difficult for the digestive system to digest. Removing gluten, which is found in wheat, oats, barley, rye and many other foods, and removing casein, found in dairy products, allow the gut to heal somewhat. In addition, less peptides reach the bloodstream and so the brain is affected minimally by opioids.

Many other treatments exist, but though many Autistics have improved, few have been pronounced cured. In addition, should all Autistics be cured at all? This is also controversial, as various high-funtioning Autistics are satisfactory being Autistic and function fully in our society.
