A 78-year-old man died this afternoon after he was struck by a car in the 3200 block of Ingersoll Avenue, authorities said.
Des Moines Police officials said Paul Joseph Johnson, of Des Moines, left Jesse's Embers restaurant just before 1 p.m. Friday when he was struck and killed by a westbound vehicle driven by Farida Bachelani.
The impact threw the man about 20 feet, witnesses said.
Traffic on the kansas city car show busy street was closed off for more than 2 hours and reopened around 3:30.
Johnson was taken to Methodist Medical Center where he died just after 4 p.m.

Paul Joseph Johnson, 78, blue book car of Des Moines, was killed while crossing Ingersoll Avenue, near Jesse's Embers restaurant, at about 1 car cell phone holder p.m., today.
