Tennesse Adventure & Myrtle Beach Bike Rally
Day 4 � May 8/07
Today, Leanne is leaving us. She has an 8:00 pm flight back home (because she needs to be back at work in the morning). Poor Leanne, all she wanted was to sit by a pool in the sun, and time had run out for her.
Her flight leaves from Atlantis, Georgia and Charlie figured that rather than riding all the way to Atlantis, we would take her to Chattanooga instead, and she could catch a train from there to Atlantis. This plan worked for everyone, and Leanne was more than happy to only have to go half way on the bike. LOL
The last train was scheduled to leave @ 3:20, so we aimed for that. But Leanne wanted to at least get into the hot tub on the campsite before we left. So, her & Charlie went off to the hot tub, while Gary settled up with reception for our stay here. He paid for 2 nights.
It wasn't till after 10:00 a.m. that we finally got going. That should have given us plenty of time to get there, right? NOT! It took us about 4 hours to get to Chattanooga, and with stopping for lunch, and possibly taking a couple of wrong turns here and there... we got there @ 4:30 - train was long gone! No more trains. Hmmmmm...
Next door to the train station was a small airport, so we went to check that out, to see if she could take a local flight from there to Atlantis. There was one more leaving that day at 5:05 pm, but it had been oversold by 1 person. We weren't having much luck. We would have to take Leanne to Atlantis after all, it was another 2 hours away.
Charlie was willing to go alone with Leanne, and stay overnight in a hotel (the ride back to the campsite was too much for him) and Gary and I could have just gone back to the campsite. But we talked about it, and we were gonna go to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga tomorrow anyways, so we decided that the 4 of us would see Leanne off in Atlanta, then come back towards Chattanooga, find a hotel along the way for the night, and then go to the Aquarium in the morning. This worked perfectly. :o)
We stayed overnight in Dalton, Georgia. It's very strange sharing a room with both Piper boys, but then, I was sharing the trailer with them the whole week (after Leanne was gone). The awkwardness was brief, and wore off quickly.
