Tennesse Adventure & Myrtle Beach Bike Rally
Day 2 May 6/07
Today we went to Graceland. Graceland is in Memphis TN. We were staying in Nashville TN. Who knew Memphis was like 3 and a half hours away? We rode the bikes to Memphis, but poor Leanne does NOT like riding on the back of her dad's motorcycle. Or probably any motorcycle. Just not her thing.
We made it to Graceland, and took the big tour. Even though I am not a big Elvis fan, I teared up a few times going through the tour. It was very neat, to think that Elvis Presley actually LIVED here! And that his daughter, Lisa-Marie, can still visit Graceland today and see her original crib, toys, and basically, the place she grew up in. Yes, I am a sap. LOL
Leanne, on the other hand, LOVES Elvis. The whole Graceland tour was mainly for her. And she really enjoyed it. As much as she hated the ride on the bike to get there, she said it was definitely worth the ride to see Graceland.
I ended up with a huge headache (of migraine proportions) at Graceland. By the end of the tour, I just wanted to curl up and die. Yes, I was hurting pretty bad. But Gary ran out to the bike and got me some tylenol, which eventually helped.
Now, the reason for the headache (I think) - a thunderstorm! Just in time for our ride back. Eek!
We hung around Graceland to stay out of the rain for a while, browsing the gift shops (so many gift shops!) and having a bite to eat. The rains did eventually slow down, and I think they may have even stopped at some point.
Of course, we had to do pictures in front of the Graceland gates, after they were closed. So, the Piper boys went to get their bikes, so that the bikes could be in the pics as well, while Leanne and I waited across the street from the gates.
The guys rode past us, with the intention of turning around up the street, coming back, and parking in front of the gates. Gary made it back, but where was Charlie? We waited and waited. Leanne started to get worried that her dad might have wiped out. So finally, Gary went back on the bike, and Leanne and I started walking back that way to see what happened, and if we could be of any help.
We found Charlie. He hadn't wiped out. He was just having motorcycle problems. Those darned Indians! LOL
They were trying to get the bike to start, and it wasn't starting. Finally, Gary pushed the bike from behind to try and get it kick started. It worked. The bike revved up and we were good to go.
So, we finished off taking the pictures in front of the Graceland gates (with everybody there this time), and headed back to Nashville.
About half way back, we stopped for dinner at a restaurent called Corky's. Apparently well known for their BBQ ribs. When we walked into the restaurant, there was a picture of Aerosmith on the wall. I think I made a comment, and that was enough to get the hostess talking. She was a HUGE Aerosmith fan, and told us that Steven Tyler actually stops in at the restaurant when in town! How cool is that???
Charlie, of course, had to tell her how much I loved Aerosmith, and the fact that I had an Aerosmith tattoo on my lower back that "I should show her". Well, she had one too! So she showed hers off. Charlie kept telling me to show mine, but I was sitting in the booth already, and Gary was blocking me. I kinda wish now that I had shown her mine. Mine is nicer. LOL Yes, I know I am biased, but hers was like a green colour. And it just looked dumb in that colour. Mine is a nice red, and looks cool. :)
The food at Corky's really is all that good! I enjoyed my dinner. I think everybody did. Then we went back to the hotel and crashed.
