Another sad story: A man came into the pet food store where I was working. He didn't look like he had much money, but he bought 10 bags of one of our more expensive brands of cat food. We started talking, and I learned that he owned a cat shelter north of the city. In a casual way he mentioned that he had just taken in 20 more cats. I asked where they were from, and he told me that an elderly woman had died recently, these where her much loved pets. She had left all her money (not a small amount) to another rescue with the understanding it would go to pay for her cats. The other shelter had taken the money, but refused to take in the cats. So rather than let them be put to sleep, this kind man had taken them all in. Moral: Make sure you know where your pets are going in case you are injured.

"I want a new kitten."
