Only Distributed Labels have the necessary market access to exploit the potential to make any significant sales or return-on-investment. Only NINE (9) companies (called General Licensers and once known as "Master Distributors") in the United States and not more than two dozen around the world license and distribute over NINETY FIVE PERCENT (95%) of all phonograph records sold! They secure domestic and foreign licensing, including foreign publishers, as market demand dictates.

Securing distribution for your label or product is a matter of money! If you're not willing to invest your money in yourself nobody else is obligated to invest their money in you either. Regardless of the label or 'deal', the Executive Producer pays for the session and part of the promotion. Distribution is a service just like your telephone, and you'll pay for it or you won't have it. It's as simple as that.

Even General Licensers aren't bottomless pits of money - and competition for their share of investment is fierce. Should you be rejected, it's not because of talent or production, it's either because they do not have the available budget at present or you've revealed your PARANOIA! So take the offer you can get, the one you want may never be available. General Licensers and Labels often 'pool' resources and it is normal to see a record released on several different Labels through the other Licensers, depending on which one ("who") had the coverage in that area, or the available budget at the time.
