Street Rodder News Issue No. 11 - October 1997
The ASRF NCC AGM was held in Melbourne in August, with the Director's meeting to discuss current issues affecting members and street rodding in Australia. Some aspects of the ASRF Rulebook were looked at, with minor changes made in several areas. A report of the conference is on the National Office page. All pages of the Rulebook which are affected by the changes will be sent out to members with the next issue of the newsletter which is due out in January '98.
Optional concessional registration for ASRF street rods and customs has recently been implemented in Tasmania. Don Langdon (ASRF State Director / Tas.) has written an outline of how the concessional scheme works in his home State. Now more than ever we are able to drive our street rods either full time or part time, giving us greater freedom to choose the system we each need, usually dictated by our financial means or how much time we want to spend driving our cars individually
Although the rodding calendar is generally quieter in winter, there has still been a lot happening. Two major shows held in SA and NSW are featured in this issue, as well as the Wintersun Festival from QLD and the Bicheno Run from TAS. And don't forget, the South West Sandgroper Nationals - Bunbury, WA, are on next Easter. The entries so far are above expectations, and indications are that this will be the biggest yet in WA. Entry forms are also available online.
Australian Street Rodders have historically had to contend with bad roads, and long distances (and sometimes cyclones) when travelling to interstate events. In this issue are three stories from the 13th Nationals entrants who all went to great lengths to attend the "Nats" in 1997. Their adventures certainly make very interesting reading. I hope you enjoy their stories as much as I did.
