Sydney Showground August 1st-3rd 1997

This is the last year that this event will be held at this venue. Next year it will be off to Homebush, if everything goes allright.

[2] Bay Area Hot Rod Club won 2nd place in "Best Club Display" section.

Set-up was from midday Thursday 'till midnight Thursday, plus three hours Friday morning. The show opened to the public Friday lunch time. The floor plan of the show was excellent, with three pavillions being used to display vehicles and trade stands. Large walkways were of great help, making accessability for the late entrants easy. Approximately 25 Street Rods entered, and all should be proud of the way they displayed our sport to the public.

[3] Sam Noisi's 'T' Bucket & brother Lou's '27 T Tourer made an excellent combined display.

[4] "1st Open" winner, "Best Special Effects Paint-Hot Rod" went to John Dyer for his '32 Hi-boy Roadster.

Roman Auto Tech, who gave away a fair lot of merchandise at Newscastle Show, also returned to do the same thing here, with the assistance of "Miss Summer Nats" & "The Penthouse Pet". Gordon "Pinky" Fellows (our now famous "Man with the Mike" from the Easter 1997 Street Rod Nationals), was on hand all weekend to continually promote the trade stands and sponsors.

The ASRF was well supported, with some merchandise sold & people joining the ASRF on the spot. Trophy Presentation was at 3:30 pm
