Street Rodder News Issue No. 11 - October 1997
NCC A.G.M.
The Annual General Meeting of the ASRF National Control Council was held in Melbourne at the end of August this year. On Saturday evening the Delegates to the meeting took the opportunity of visiting the Geelong Showgrounds, where the 1999 Nationals Committee gave us a guided tour of the complex, and many thanks to Geelong Rodders who put on a BBQ for the visitors.

Financial Report
The Buget for the current year includes additional funding for membership benefits. Some States will buy or construct ASRF promotional trailers which will contain ASRF merchandise, and be used to promote the sport at runs. The newsletter is the single largest expense of the ASRF, but it has been provided on time, within budget, and is of the highest quality and content.
Haines Norton Chartered Accountants were re-appointed as the offical ASRF Auditor for the 1997/98 financial year.
Memberships
ASRF membership has grown by 21% durning this financial year, which is a very pleasing result.
A proposal was put to offer discounted membership fees applicable to financial member's spouse (living under the same roof). It was decided to ask all State Councils to discuss the proposal and report back to their respective State Director's with their thoughts.
The Directors debated the 100% ASRF membership for clubs, rule. One point raised was that if there were social members of clubs that those members were missing out on benefits of ASRF membership such as newsletters, TAC assistance, insurance coverage under our policy etc. It was decided to retain the 100% requirement.

Incorporation
During the past year, many clubs have become incorporated. It is wise for all clubs to cover themselves with incorporation. These days the steps to becoming incorporated have been made easier, with "plain English" guides available from the relevant Government Departments in each State.
Junior Rodders Club
There are over 450 Junior Rodders in our club now. The club newsletter goes out 3 times a year, with the Spring '97 edition due out soon.
Newsletter The current format will continue, with the possible expansion to 36 pages in the future. Articles from members are always welcomed for inclusion.
Handbook Amendments There were some amendments made to the Handbook. The amendments will be circularised with the January issue of the Newsletter.

Proportional Voting A proposal for proportional voting at NCC level was put to the meeting. The proposal will be discussed during the year and will be voted on at the 1998 AGM.
Insurance Representatives from VGIL and Shannons Insurance Brokers were invited to the meeting. Insurance is a complex area, and many questions were answered during the visit. Reps from both VGIL and Shannons are available to attend your club meeting to answer member's questions first hand. They are only a phone call away
ASRF Internet Site Approval was given to expand the ASRF presence on the internet, by attaining our own Domain Name. This will give easier access to our site.
Raffle Car The next ASRF raffle car will be another purpose built vehicle. This time it will be a 1932 2 Door Tourer. Dave Hart, Ray Williams and Dave Dorman of NSW will be the team behind the construction of the car, many thanks to the guys for offering their services the second time around. A competition to design the paint scheme for the raffle car will be sent out to members with the next issue of the newsletter.
Year 2000 Nationals The NCC has given approval for sanction to the Queensland Division to hold a Regional Nationals at Clevland (Brisbane) in 2000.
