It is believed that the Moran/Morin family line orginated in the northwest region of France, possibly somewhere around the village of Nantes in the Anjou region. However, a fellow family member has thus far only been able to trace the oldest known ancestor, Antonie Gonzales Trauna Morin, to the village of Lisbon (Lisboa), Portugal! What a surprise it was to the family that this line was traced back to Portugal of all places! We have yet to determine how long the family resided in Portugal, but we hope to continue tracing the line to uncover where in France they originally came from. From Lisbon, Portugal, our eldest Morin relative thus far uncovered, Antoine Morin migrated to New Orleans, Lousiana, where his family lived until approximately 1843 when his great-grandson, Michel Celicore Morin, moved to the Acy area in Ascension Parish. Many of Michel�s descendents still live in the same area, but many now live in the town of St. Amant, Ascension Parish, Louisiana. This web page is dedicated to tracing the Moran/Morin and it�s associated families and providing the present day Moran family a respository of rich family history and details of the life and times of the Moran family. |
