Plot -
Beast, Moria, and Professor X ponder over the body of the dead Skrull who had impersonated
Wolverine for some time. And Professor X reaches the conclusion that Wolverine could
literally be anywhere in the universe. At a Skrull base, they are testing a new Wolverine,
trying to find a way to get their spy back into the game before the X-Men suspect too
much. However, a group of mutant Skrulls are ready to rebel, but what can they do against
their supposed superiors? Back at mansion, Storm tries to persuade for the Professor to
get some rest, and he actually agrees. Meanwhile, down below, the X-Men continue to train,
because a battle is brewing on the front. With a tip from Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Phoenix,
and Nightcrawler make a visit to a former X-Man, Polaris, who believes she is being
trailed. Soon enough, a Skrull, wearing the face of Polaris's lost love, Havok, appears
and takes Polaris unaware. Polaris is taken from her apartment, is told she is one of the
mysterious Twelve, and along with her, the Skrull takes Havok's old costume. At the Skrull
base, Polaris wakes up to see the Skrulls trying to make a new Wolverine, and to see the
Skrulls' operations. However, when the Skrulls realize she's awaken, they decide to take
action, but when they do, Polaris is revealed to really be Cyclops in disguise. Seconds
later, the X-Men, led by Phoenix's psychic rapport with Cyclops, attack the base.
Shadowcat, who was taught the Skrull language while she was on their homeworld, talks with
one of the Skrulls, but before she can get any information on the Twelve, she is taken
out. The X-Men fight off the Skrulls quite easliy, but a new threat enters the
battlefield, the Horseman called Death! The X-Men try to fight him off, but everything
they do is simply thrown off. However, Colossus manages one good punch, shattering Death's
face mask, revealing Death's true face, that of the real Wolverine! But someone teleports
him away, and the base is self-destructed as the X-Men escape with nothing but their lives
and the reality that they have fight their friend and teammate. |
