U.S. Department of Education releases guidelines

The Nation - The ACLU has been a main instigator in helping to promote religious intolerance in our nation's public schools. The result of the ACLU's special interest involvement in some schools and the courts, concerning this issue, has been nothing short of astonishing: No Christian bibles, no prayer and no mention of God in classroom studies, homework and virtually anywhere on public school grounds.

The Pledge of Allegiance recently came under attack because of the words, "under God," even though there is no requirement that students must recite the pledge.

In 2001 a Sacramento, California, physician, also possessing a law degree, Dr. Michael Newdow, brought the lawsuit to ban "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. Reportedly, Newdow said he did so because in his opinion that pledge is actually a prayer. Newdow implied that his daughter is an atheist and he said she "was injured" by hearing under God recited in the pledge. His second-grade daughter attends public school in California and he wanted to keep her from being exposed to religion while at school.

Shortly after the 9-11 terrorist attack in New York, a school bus driver in Carroll County, (Maryland) was fired for the offense of allowing students to pray on the bus for the victims of that attack. Bus driver Stella Tsourakis is appealing to the courts in the hope of getting her job back.

These are a few of many recent events that have continually sent a nationwide anti-Christian message to children and their parents, regardless of numerous polls and survey's that support Christian prayer in our public schools. ...
