Planning is crucial to your movie, unless you're a quick thinker and you can think up good stuff during filming.  You have to come up with a plot, characters, and what everyone will say.  Make sure your characters are likeable enough that it can be dramatic if they get killed.  Make sure the plot is made clear throughout the movie so that your viewers know what's going on and get more into it.  Make sure your plot is unique and interesting or your viewers will quickly get bored.  And make sure that your scenes aren't too long and slow because you'll have a boring movie.

One way to make scenes more interesting is to add extra things in that aren't needed.  For example-  (and this is a very basic example)  You're in a western and a wanted criminal is about to bust into a bank.  While in the bank, don't just show it's a bank with people sitting there.  Instead, before he breaks in, have the people in the bank have some conversation about something.  It doesn't even have to have anything to do with the movie.  Then make the criminal break in.

So anyway, you need to give your movies good thought.
