A place for disabled fishermen and their friends.

As anyone who has ever participated knows, fishing is a relaxing and entertaining sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. This is no different for the millions of Americans who face daily the battles associated with a disabling condition. Today, the combination of readily accessible sites and the low-impact nature of pleasure fishing combine to form a perfect way for the disabled to interact with nature while still retaining the necessary safety factors. There are, however, some issues which need to be discussed to enhance the experience for both the disabled individual and others who will join them. That is the purpose of this site.

I have been planning on adding some information on my opinions on the best way to achieve safe accessibility at fishing locations.  While considering what to put in that article, it came to me that I have really overlooked a lot of information for the visually impaired.  This especially has been on my mind as a new neighbor of mine is a very independent young lady who happens to be blind.  Doing the Web thing, I came across a manufacturer of tactile systems for the visually impaired.  I admit to little previous knowledge of this area of accessibility, so I've been doing some research and one company, Armor-Tile, really stands out as having a quality product adaptable to many different situations.  Quite frankly, I had missed these systems when consulting with folks on accessible locations, and intend to always include them in the future.

That blurb is the short form.  They have a very good site and I encourage you to take a look at the brochure available as a PDF download from the site.  I really like the Ocean Blue color.

For you women who visit and for those men who can get past the fact that women outfish you, go visit Women Anglers Online Magazine. Great bunch of folks over there.  I went fishing with Wanda Garner, who is the publisher over there, and Tommy, her husband, and had a great time.  It was actually the first time I'd went trout fishing and we even caught a few.

I am very interested in receiving mail from you folks who visit this site, especially those from overseas.  I would love to hear how fishing is in your area.   All areas and fish are welcome.  Thanks
