Welcome · Upcoming Events · Past Events · Usual Suspects · New in Boston · Leftovers

Those of us who have lived here a while haven't been able to help but notice that everyone in Boston seems to be from somewhere else.   So if Boston's immigrant population is soon to include you as well, local alumni can help you in your search for city or suburban accomodation, a way through the immigration maze, or maybe even a parking spot in Cambridge.   Whatever it is, someone's probably tried it -- ask us!   Better still, come to an alumni event with your local resource questions.

Renting in Boston   A perennial challenge for newcomers, Boston's robust housing market has cooled down of late to the point where realtors don't hang their heads in shame if a place only goes for the asking price.   Understandably, most newcomers rent for a time before buying.   Realtor gatekeepers and agency fees are still common, and quick decisions are sometimes necessary in the summer moving months.   Not unlike your student days in Kingston, but for five or ten times the price.   Here are some online resources to help you start finding a place in an area that you'll enjoy.   Make sure to let us know as well: we hear regularly about sublets, shares and other arrangements available that may be just what you need.

Transportation   Everything you've heard about driving in Boston is probably true.   If you're thinking about living in the city, and have never thought of life without a car, now is the time to start.   In the 'burbs you'll need that car but get ready for some of the wackiest and most obtusely signed on-ramps you've ever seen.   Here are a few other ways to get in, out, and around:
MBTA, subways, buses and commuter rail ·  Amtrak, intercity rail ·  Massport, airport and suburban airport shuttle service

More Boston Information   As if the roads weren't enough, here are enough links to Boston resources to get you lost for days. Honestly, your time would be better spent actually being here!
