| The Sultanate of Oman television began broadcasting for the first time from Muscat on the 17th November 1974 and separately |
| from Salalah on 25th November 1975. On 1st June 1979 the two stations at Muscat and Salalah were joined by a satellite link to |
| form a unified broadcasting service. Oman Tv's broadcats are transmitted through a network of stations spread across the country |
| in the both populated and remote areas, to overcome the natural obstacles created by the mountainous terrain. |
