In Sunset the student will explore the use of color to show temperature contrasts in a design. The student will see how the coolness of an advancing evening is contrasted with a setting sun. The student will learn to blend thread colors using cotton floss, and will experiment with a needle weaving technique. Colonial knots will create leaves. When completed the design may be used as a box lid insert or a framed piece.

Biography
Ginny Smith is certified through The Embroiderers' Guild of America in canvas work. She studied canvas embroidery techniques with Brenda Hart in Tucson, Arizona, where she began her teaching career. Thread and color manipulation plays a large part in her designs. She has taught classes in several chapters in both Florida and Michigan.
