Pre-Street Fighter: Akuma and his brother Gouken train under the tutelage of the Asatsuken master, Gotetsu. Gotetsu teaches them all forms of Asatsuken, included the powerful Shun Goku Satsu. The two after completing their training go their separate ways and devote their lives to training. Akuma however, becomes obsessed with becoming the strongest fighter in the world. He uses the Satsui no Hadou in order to achieve his goals of mastering the way of the fist. Eventually he challenges his own master, Gotetsu ( its never reveled if Gotetsu uses the Satsui no Hadou). In the end Akuma uses the Shun Goku Satsu on Gotestu, killing him. This is only the beginning of Akumas path in training. He then goes on to challenge his brother Gouken. By this time Gouken has taken on two students, and teaches them Ansatsuken, but without applying its killing intent. Akuma and Gouken fight, and Gouken wins, but does not finish of his brother. Gouken tells Akuma that his Hadou no Chikara ( Spirit of Hadou) has been corrupted. Akuma leaves vowing a different outcome in their next match.
Street Fighter: Akuma never signed up for nor showed up at the first Street fighter tournament. He was actually training, and at about the time that Ryu was competing against Sagat. Akuma challenged his brother Gouken. Goukens daughter witnessed the battle, afterwards she disappears ( Capcom never gave Goukens daughter a name, Ken and Ryu refer to her as Little Miss she never shows up again and it seems that Capcom doesnt remember her even.) Ken returns to the dojo to see his master, and witnesses Akuma deliver the final blow (which is not the Shun Goku Satsu). Akuma, victorious, returns to his island of Gokuentou ( Remote island of Karmatic suffering). In later games, Akuma refers to Ken as being an unworthy fighter but wishes to see his flaming Sho Ryu again. This, while not official, means that Ken most likely tried to attack Akuma after witnessing the death of his master. But Akuma, being so powerful easily defeated Ken and saw no reason to kill him as Ken wasnt really even a challenge . Street Fighter Zero 2: Akuma is challenged by Ryu who wishes to learn about the Satsui no Hado, and to avenge his masters death. Akuma always looking for worthy opponents agrees to the match, this takes place on Akumas Island (Gokuentou). Akuma, is impressed by Ryu skill, and he tells Ryu about the Satsui no Hadou inside of the young fighter. Akuma tells Ryu that once Ryu has embrace this power that Ryu should challenge him to a real match. Akuma then unleashes a powerful punch into the ground which causes the island to sink into the sea. This might be reference to the Ultimate Technique that Akuma has mastered by Street Fighter III. Ryu is left with many questions, and the death of his master un-avenged. Later, Akuma meets a Chinese Kung-Fu master named Gen, who has also mastered a form of Ansatsuken. The two seems to have met before, and they engage in a match. Akuma uses the Shun Goku Satsu on Gen but Gen manages to survive, this is because Gen emptied his spirit, heart, and mind, so his past sins could not be used against him, it also kept him from going to hell. Gen then uses his Zan-ei on Akuma, but Akuma survives that! The battle continues and Akuma realizes that Gen is sick, the match is stopped and the two go their separate ways. Street Fighter Zero 3: Akuma continues to search for a worthy opponent, and ends up meeting Gen again. Gen tells Akuma that he wont lose this time (Gen considers Akuma sparing him as a loss). The two have their fight to the death Gens ending suggests that he won the fight but spared Akuma, and that since he found a worthy opponent no longer needs to fight. Either way Akuma is not killed, but possibly defeated. (Personally, I dont think Akuma lost because the power he displays throughout the Street Fighter series is much more than what Gen is shown as displaying. Akuma is shown to be one of the Strongest fighters in the Street Fighter Universe) Street Fighter II: Akuma receive word that a new Street Fighter Tournament is going to be held. Akuma however doesnt sign up, he does however show up in the finals. The final match between Bison and the last contestant (Capcom hasnt stated who this is) is a bout to begin but Akuma steps in and decides to test Bison. Akuma tells Bison that hes pathetic for allowing himself to be defeated and consumed by his own shadow. This is of course referring to Bisons Psycho Power. This is different than Akuma who mastered his fighting style through steer training alone and did not cheat to attain that power. Akuma tells Bison that a person who has mastered their own fists, will always triumph over one who is consumed by artificial power. Akuma then uses the Shun Goku Satsu, kills Bison, and destroys the Shadowloo leaders soul. Street Fighter III Double Impact: Akuma having trained more and more in the past years has developed the Ultimate Technique, Kongou Kokuretsu Zan. This technique is so powerful that when Akuma uses it that the damage from it rips a mountain in half. Other than this Akuma remains in the shadows waiting for a worthy opponent. Street Fighter III Third Strike: Akuma is found by Oro who had been tracking Akumas ki for a while. Out of their curiosity over each others power they have a match. The match itself is just to test each others power not to actual fight all out. Out sie of this Akuma keeps training. He has trained so much so that he greatly exceeds the limits of Humans, this is demonstrated by Akuma training under water. While training under water Akuma uses a technique called Tenshou Kairekijin (Heavenly Rise of the Wondrous Gods) this destroys a sunken ship. Where is he Now: Akuma still trains, and waits for Ryu to become a worthy match. Until their battle Akuma roams the planet training and searching for a worthy opponent. Miscellaneous Facts and Notes: Akuma is technically Ryus Uncle-in-law. Gouken adopted Ryu as a baby. Ryu and Ken have met Akuma before the Events of Street Fighter Zero 2. It is when both Ken and Ryu are learning from Gouken and Akuma challenges his brother. Goutetsu, who created the arts of Hadou, Shoryuu, and Tatsumaki, taught the Shun Goku Satsu to BOTH Akuma and Gouken. The Techniques for it was not hidden away like it is told in the English version. Also By Akuma using the Shun Goku Satsu it didnt cause him to become evil. Gouken, who disliked killing never taught Ken and Ryu the Shun Goku Satsu as he saw martial arts as more than the killing of your opponent. Akuma uses Satsui no Hadou (Darkness of Hado), its never confirmed if Gotetsu used this power or not, it is known that Gouken developed a completely different style from Goutetsu and Akumas Ansatsuken. It looks almost exact but the method in which the user draws out their ki is different. Capcom has not stated how. Certain sources say that when Akuma used the Shun Goku Satsu on Goutetsu that Goutetsu was forming a Messatsu Gou Hadou. ( they say that his hands were cupped with countless flames being formed). Its also said that Goutetsu died smiling, happy that not only did he have the fight of his life but that his student was able to surpass him. Akuma then took Goutetsus beads, which are the ones you see Akuma wear for all of his subsequent appearances. Akuma doesnt become Shin Akuma. Akuma is Shin Akuma. The character for Shin translates as true, this is Akuma without holding his energy back (As he does for most of his fights). Akuma only uses a small amount of energy when fighting opponents because many cant fight him if he goes all out and if he did it would lead to a lot of useless killing. Akuma himself is 100% human, unlike how he is portrayed in the American Street Fighter, Akuma is not possessed by a demon. His original Japanese name is Gouki, which means One Great Strength. The Capcom of USA changed his name to give him more of an evil presence. Even though hes human, Akuma has surpassed the limits of humanity, allowing him to do a number of things that a human being couldnt begin to achieve. Akuma wishes to awaken the Satsui no Hadou that dwells inside Ryu. Mostly this is because if Ryu were to Use the Satsui no Hadou it would make him extremely powerful and allow Akuma to fight in a worthy match. |
