Customizing the tools

Mixing colors on a canvas

You can use the colors from the palette tool to create your own colors.

To mix colors:

  1. Select the create tool to open a new canvas.

    This canvas acts like a scratch pad.

  2. Mix the colors on the canvas using different opacities and brushes to achieve the desired color and intensity.
  3. Use the pick button on the palette tool to pick a color from the painted area.
  4. If you want to select more than one custom color, you can use the pick button and the put option to place the colors on the block palette. (For more information on the pick button and the put option, see page 382 and page 383.)

Designing a custom paint brush

VizPaint2D offers two methods for using a custom paint brush, the brush paste tool and the custom option of the brush tool. You can use your own design, or you can use a design or image from an existing picture. This method describes how to create your own design.

To design a custom paint brush:

  1. Select the create tool to open a new canvas.

    This canvas acts like a scratch pad.

  2. On the new canvas, create the design that you want to use as the source for your brush.
  3. Using the cut tool, cut the design from the canvas.
  4. Choose one of the following:

    Apply the design with the brush paste tool.

    or

    Use the custom option of the brush tool to use the colors of the design to create a pattern using the brush.
