• Based on First & Zeroth Laws of ReSearch
• For pre-determined system-of-interest
• To reach pre-determined objectives & scope

Transformational research

• Based on First & Zeroth Laws of ReSearch
• For optimal system-of-interest determined by Second Law of ReSearch
• To reach pre-determined objectives & scope

Inherent deficiency of ReSearch

• As pointed out by the incompleteness paradox,
• ReSearch is inherently endless due to its inherent incompleteness
• For once research is started, research would continue & need to propagate endlessly through the Laws of ReSearch along the chain of ReSearch amidst the occasional shiftings due to uncertain discontinuities
• This could be a means of livelihood for motivated researchers
• Yet, research itself does not escape the loop of research that it engages upon initially
• The effect is more questions raised than answers & continuous oscillations between complexity & simplicity
• The Laws of ReSearch cater to all research operations, reflections, techniques & oscillations
• But,
• The last "constraint" - objectives & scope - is interesting
• On the one hand, objectives & scope helps to narrow the domain & train the focus to reach viable conclusions
• For without this constraint on research focus, the foundations of research would be shaken
• In short, such training of research into the objectives & scope is equivalent to what education is designed for the intended purposes & aims
• Indeed, research itself is a subset of education
• As such, research is also constrained by the 4 education circumstances:

1. Public policy
2. Environment
3. Culture
4. Existing needs

• Only with these circumstances to focus research would it produce any meaningful, useful & consistent results that serve its intended users
• On the other hand, the current objectives & scope is based on the previous ones within the chain of research
• This is encompassed by the transition-niche-transition configuration
• In fact, a previous research effort would often determine the objectives & scope of the next
• Hence, they are pre-determined & assumed
• By Relativity, such pre-determinancy assumption is a fallacy, an illusion that keeps research endless, though not aimlessly
• Research itself is relative to its objectives & scope (O&S) which in turn is relative to circumstances which in turn is relative to their history
• Hence, non-ending changes are inherent, thus unstable in that no convergence results
• Now, a niche exists to stabilise this inherent deficiency of ReSearch, as stated by the Last Law of ReSearch

Last Law of ReSearch

• Last Law of ReSearch states that with regards to the circumstances surrounding the researcher, by segregating oneself from the constraints imposed either virtually or metaphysically, there would always exist conditions to either engage in new research or terminate existing research through a problem-centred perspective
• The implications are:

1. ReSearch itself should be self-contained in as much as the abilities, resources & circumstances facing the researcher - i.e. research itself should address itself such that the subsequent re-action researches are minimised, hence decoupling the endless loop of research by either starting up a new field of study or ending the existing field of study … 本來無一物, 何處惹塵埃
2. Research path should not be conducted by researchers who are only proficient with the skills & techniques of ReSearch, but without a conscientious attitude towards attentuating the problems the research attempts to address (researchers are researching for the sake of researching) - i.e. researchers should not go into research just because they are academically, technically trained or inclined to do so à researchers must possess a fundamental concern with the issues, concerns & problems that the research seeks to address … 人無遠慮, 必有近憂
3. One way or instance of implementation is having a variable O&S to track the 4 circumstances, catering the skills & techniques subsequently à essentially, a Jack of All approach à this is ironic because to end research, we need to shift the O&S & yet changing O&S would violate the picture
4. As opposed to the regularity of contributions through the previous Laws of ReSearch, it is the spontaneity of researching O&S that generates greatest impact à countless findings, reports & biographies have admitted that spectacular discoveries (e.g. penicillin was discovered by Fleming when a spore of a rare variant called Penicillium notatum coincidentally infected his culture plate, which he accidentally left open for a two-week holiday); radical shifts (Einstein's thought experiments as opposed to conventional physical experiments; Freud's psychoanalysis as opposed to the mind cannot be systematically analysed; Charles Darwin's Origins of Species based on observations rather than analytical deductions); visions (ability to visualise the future & work consistently towards that visible realistic future; Bill Gates' Microsoft for every desktop; Tim Berners-Lee's Enquire Within Upon Anything World Wide Web); most influential inventions & patents (Thomas Edison's inventions; Alexander Graham Bell's telephone) are not entirely inconceivable & thoroughly appreciable
5. Corollary: by the Equivalence Principle, to stand aside from the endless loop of current ReSearch is equivalent to transcending the currency, confinement & inevitability of the ReSearch loop to have a problem-cultivated "look" from beyond … 當局者迷, 旁觀者清
6. Transcendent research lies in overthrowing our inherited ideas about logic, language, learning, mathematics, economics & space-time; behind each great idea, discovery & invention is, in most cases, an extraordinary mind; this implies that in order to reach transcendent research, one has to free oneself from imposed bounds & constraints, self-taught or self-imposed, with semi-active mind & open-hearted spirit à in short, to leave the pond of engineering in order to explore the ocean universe of science à transcendent research = science-based research or engineering research with spontaneity
7. That the most valuable, piercing & transcendent of researches result less from skills or techniques, but more from science, philosophy & the arts (SPA) - perhaps in our relentless pursuit of social, economic & technological development, more emphasis, respect & indeed inquiry should instead bestow upon SPA
8. Consistency with niche theory: focus on the research topic through First, Zeroth & Second Laws of ReSearch (Master of One) & maintain general knowledge through Last law of ReSearch (Jack of All) à transcendent research needs a firm-flexible approach towards research

Findings

• Just as Einstein's Theory of Relativity seeks to rectify & generalise Newtion's Laws of Motion & Gravitation,
• The Last Law of ReSearch attempts to overturn the basis of ReSearch as a fallacy within itself (the head would end in its tail, thus never-ending) by starting a new head or stopping the tail
• In so much as is theoretically-feasible,
• The true meaning of exploration & exploitation is towards the pragmatic, practical & principled applications to realise one's relevance, relationship & renaissance with the universal environment
• Henceforth,
• The Laws of ReSearch laid bare before you are perhaps the continuation of life's journeys
