Guan Yin Palace

As soon as one enters the temple, one is welcomed by the amiable and dignified forty-eight arm standing Guan Yin Bodhisattva statue. Guan Yin Bodhisattva represents mercy, and is among one of the four great bodhisattva. Each of the four great bodhisattva have their own unique representation. Wen Shu Bodhisattva represents wisdom, Pu Xian Bodhisattva represents practice (putting promises into practice), and Di Zang Bodhisattva represents hope (for everyone to do good). Actually they all are ancient buddhas who represented the best education to people. Bodhisattva are all merciful and compassionate, and want to bring all living things out of suffering and into happiness. Every bodhisattva are representatives of virtue. So when one worships, one should have thoughts of learning from the bodhisattvas, and put these wisdoms into practice in daily life and affairs. Worshiping Buddha is at the same time also to develop one's own inner Buddha. So one should humbly learn Buddha bodhisattva's merciful wisdom.

The name "Guan Shi Yin" means "to listen to the sound of the world". The origin of "Guan Shi Yin's" name comes from: if there are billions of living things suffering, and when they wholeheartedly say the name, "Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva", Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva will immediately hear their pleas and free all their suffering. So the name Guan Shi Yin came from by listening to all living things who say her name wholeheartedly and to search for their sound to help those in suffering.

Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva is infinitely compassionate and merciful to help the suffering and relieve the distressed. She constantly save the sufferers; therefore, her moving conducts have been known all over the world. Most of the people in China and South East Asia believe in Guan Shi Yin, as a result there is a saying that Guan Shi Yin is in every family. Once the Bodhisattva hears the sound of sufferers, she'll immediately come to conduct salvation to wherever they need to be saved. Because of her deep affection for all the livings and her great conduction of heartily serving for all the livings, the various appearances of her holy statue can be seen everywhere in the temple, such as free Guan Yin, Guan Yin with 11 faces, Guan Yin with 24 arms, Guan Yin with 48 arms and even Guan Yin with thousand arms and thousand eyes. These indicates that Guan Yin has hundreds and thousand million embodiments, and her thousand arms and thousand eyes indicates her infinite power, so she can listen to all the livings at the same time and save the sufferers according to their needs; therefore as long as we sincerely pray and practise wholeheartedly, our request will be granted.
