Activities

In order to carry forward the Chinese culture and to make known the Buddhist doctrine, Fan Yin Temple year to year conduct many activities. Every 1st and 15th day of each Lunar month and every Sundays there are meetings where people altogether worship, and whenever it is Buddhas' birthday the temple will hold celebration commemorative activities. Also every year the temple conduct several special activities:

1. On the first day of the new year (New Year's Day), the Buddhist meeting of lighting the lamps is held for praying peace and health of the people who lit the lamps and the people who uphold Buddhist doctrines.
2. In the first nine days of the Lunar month Qi Tian Buddhist meeting is held for praying the peace and safety for the people and country.
3. The Pure Brightness of every year, which is the 15th of July, is the festival of filial piety of paying the debt of gratitude for their ancestors, such as parents, grandparents, etc. Pure Brightness Buddhist meeting and the feast of lanterns Buddhist meeting will be held during the festival.
4. At the end of May, the Buddhist meeting about improving and benefiting both the positive and negative world will be held for seven days.
5. Every year during the period of Buddhist Thanksgiving day a meeting of repaying a debt of gratitude to Buddha will be held.
6. Every year we hold outdoor activities such as setting free captive animals, as well as celebrating Mother's Day and selling for charity activity.
7. Besides the above activities that this temple conducts, we also hold an indefinite number of meetings to preach Buddhism, as well as setting up a Chinese class. The Chinese class are mainly for 5 years old to 13 years old children, to teach them to learn Chinese. Besides teaching them how to say and write Chinese, we also teach them some Buddhism propriety and ways to get along with people, courtesy, and so on.
