Di Zang Palace The rear part of the Great Palace is called Di Zang (Earth Store) Palace, which is also our merits and virtue hall. There is an ancient holy bronze statue of Di Zang who holds the bright pearl. This indicates that the bright pearl thoroughly brightens the road to paradise and the golden tin rouses the door of hell. Di Zang Bodhisattva once vowed that he would never become a Buddha unless hell is empty; once all the livings are saved, then bodhi (supreme wisdom or enlightenment) is proved. In Buddhism, the word, hell, can be seen at any moment. Because of human beings' greediness or selfishness, they would fall into hell, and their hatred and vengence would cause them to completely destroy themselves and suffer from the disasterous imprisonment. We could change the way of our thinking and conductions and cut off the roots of hell. The merits and virtue hall is also called the hall of gratitude. It is the place for paying the great respect for the dynasties' founders and ancestors. Placing the ancestorial memorial tablet in this hall could fulfill the purpose of letting them listen to Buddhist doctrines and practise together with the livings, and also during the period of every 1st and 15th day of each Lunar month and Sundays, the people come to consecrate the vegetables and practise Buddhism, and placing the ancestorial memorial tablet could please and soothe both the livings and the dead. |
