Great Palace

The Great Palace is also called the precious hall of the great heroes, which is the main palace of the temple. It is the obligation for Sakyamuni Buddha who was the founder of Buddhism, Amitabha Buddha who is the founder of Western World of Ultimate Bliss, and Medicine Buddha who represents the Brilliant and Pure Eastern Land. Buddhas has the grand wisdom, the immaculate moral conduction, indefinite mercy and supernatural power of defeating devils. They can save all the livings from suffering. Therefore this palace is called the precious hall of the great heroes. The temple's important Buddhist ceremony is held in this palace. In this palace the atmosphere is peaceful and auspicious. There are three noble Buddhas' statues each of which has different significance for enlightenment.

In the center of the Great Palace is Sakyamuni Buddha who was the founder of Buddhism. More than 2,500 years ago, he was born as the prince of Kapilavastu, India. When he was 29 years old, he became a monk. And in order to solve life's question of birth, old age, sickness, and death, he gives up the throne to lead a pious life. He experiences six years of ascetic practices under the Bodhi tree to attain enlightenment. He preached the law for 49 years, gave over 300 lectures, and 80 years old he entered Nirvana.

Sakyamuni Buddha comprehended and proved the highest truth of universal life through his practise. He thoroughly extricated from mundane suffering and got greatly enlightened. He educated people that everyone should have nature of Buddha, and everybody could be enlightened by practise and reach the perfect realm of Buddha. Since all the livings have the potential to attain enlightenment, in Buddha's theory, there are many people who became Buddha. Sakyamuni is the only Buddha with the historical record.

On the left side of the Great Palace there is Amitabha Buddha who was the founder of the Western World of Ultimate Bliss. The name, Amitabha, means immeasurable light and eternal life. When Amitabha Buddha was practising, he once issued 48 great vows that could satisfy the wills of Pure Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and more conveniently aid all the livings, who are suffering in the mundane world, to achieve the Ultimate Bliss. Once someone made a wholehearted wish to be willing to be reborn in Paradise, then the person could be received to the land of Ultimate Bliss, and the person would be taught by Bodhisattva until he/she ultimately achieves Buddhahood. Usually when Chinese Buddhists meet each other, they mutually say Amitabha. This is the praying for each other's life to be everlasting and full of immeasurable light. Amitabha Buddha holds the golden tower which indicates his warmly receiving all the livings suffering in the mundane world to pure happiness.

On the right side of the Great Palace is Medicine Buddha who is responsible for removing ill fortune and prolonging life. He is also called the Great Embellishing Pharmacist who is the founder of Purely Embellishing Eastern World. He is the Master Pharmacist in Buddhism, who is fully capable of curing the illness in bodies and minds. While the Bodhisattvas were practising, the Medicine Buddha once issued 12 great vows that so long as the living things sincerely recite the name of the Buddha, their illness could be rid of from their bodies and minds. The Medicine Buddha holds a pagoda which symbolizes the wills of all the livings, which are of making all the achievements and extricating from suffering.

On the shelf under the niche are the two bronze statues which are the protectors of Buddhism. The statue on the left is Jia Lan Bodhisattva, and the one on the right is Wei Tuo Bodhisattva. They are the main protectors of Buddhism. In the Great Palace, the wooden clappers, big drums and music instruments are set, which are used by the Buddhists and believers during the Buddhist ceremonies and their studies.
