Central character for the series, Harry was orphaned at the age of one year when Lord Voldemort killed his parents in an effort to destroy Harry himself. Because of a prophecy given to Albus Dumbledore by Cybil Trelawny, Voldemort believed that the only person that could ever destroy him was Harry Potter and therefore tried to eliminate the boy when he was a baby. What Voldemort was unaware of, however, was that the rest of the prophecy which he was not made aware of stated that Voldemort himself would choose his equal and that neither could live while the other was alive. This leaves the destiny of Harry Potter to either die at the hands of Lord Voldemort or to destroy him and thereby survive. Harry aspires to become an Auror. He excels at Defense Against the Dark Arts and flying and has had relationships with Cho Chang of Ravenclaw and Ginny Weasley of Gryffindor. He was also the leader of Dumbledore's army; an underground attempt at learning advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts.
