~The Blessing is the core tenent in Unification Church doctrine . It is described in Unification Church theology as The Passport to Heaven. According to Moon's theology, no one, including Jesus Christ can go to Heaven without receiving the Blessing from Sun Myung Moon.

~It is the contention of The Divine Principle (Moon's Holy Book) that in the beginning God imparted Three Blessings to man. These are extracted from Genesis 1:28 in the Bible, where we read:

~Though there seem to be other instructions to man, Moon has condensed the verse into only Three Blessings. According to his theology they are:

D.P. says individual perfection or completion and then Family or husband and wife completion comes before man is allowed to dominate all things. But in actuality, God allowed man to dominate the creation from the beginning . There is no merit process involved. God gave the creation to man for his use.

~First of all, if you want to call the concept of the Three Blessings a nice philosophy, fine. But Moon is extrapolating his theory from the Bible. I don't agree at all that what the Bible shows in Genesis 1:28 are "Three" Blessings.

~In Genesis there are two accounts of creation. The first is found in the first chapter and the second account is in the second chapter. Now, regarding man and his creation. The second account is much more detailed and progresses almost from beginning to end of the chapter. But the first account is only 5 verses. Moon's conclusions are drawn from the first account. Let's start there. Moon says there are "Three" distinct Blessings: Be fruitful, multiply and have dominion. As members know, fruitful means according to D.P.: Individual perfection. Mind/body unity. To begin with, I challenge the conclusion that there are "Three" Blessings. Read the whole verse:

~Ihe way it's phrased: Be fruitful, multiply and replenish the Earth. They are connected, like three steps of the same goal. The goal being populating the Earth.

~For no reason God would be repeating himself in the middle. (multiply / replenish) The first makes more sense, but going further, the Bible says "subdue the Earth and have dominion". Now if there is any qualification at all for man to have Dominion it is, as the Bible says: To subdue. What does subdue mean?

~Ihese definitions are consistent with the idea of controlling or even taming something. Why would you have to subdue or control something? Because it is wild? Or untamed? Clearly God is telling man that the creation is his to use, but he must subdue it. He must cultivate and garden and be responsible for the creation. Some theologians have suggested further that Subdue the Earth" is a reference to satan, whom God cast down to the Earth after he rose against Him.

~Often, our children want a puppy. But the parent will usually tell the child "Now, if I give you this puppy, you will have to feed him every day and take care of him, will you do that?" Now, once it is established what is expected of the child regarding his caring for the animal, the parent will then entrust the animal to the child's care. It is his now, and what is the first thing the child is allowed to do once the animal is his? He is allowed to name it! Interestingly, we read in the Bible that Adam gave a name to every animal. That in fact it was God who brought the animals to Adam to see what he would name them! This is yet another demonstration that God had given the creation over to man's care. There was no merit process of man first becoming "perfect" as Moon says before he would be given the creation. God gave it to man from the beginning, which would mean God gave the third blessing "first" to man. If Moon is right, God broke His own Divine Principles! Of course God is perfect, and it is Moon who is wrong!

~The first "Blessing". Does it mean, as the D.P. says: "God's first blessing to man was the perfection of his individuality....his mind and body....must become united." Absolutely not! Fruitful clearly means reproduction. Compare man's "Blessing" with the animals "Blessing" (Most Moonies don't realise that God gave an almost Identical Blessing to Whales as he did to Humans!). Animals are not in need of mind/body unity as Moon says man is, regarding the qualification for dominion. But observe. God "Blesses" animals and tells them to be fruitful too! Can animals become "One with God"? Surely God is not giving the three blessings to animals. But read:

You see the same "chain" in the animals blessing and in man's blessing. The chain is:

Fruitful
Multiply
Fill the (Waters/Earth)

~God's blessing is the same for man and animals. That blessing is the Reproduction of Life. God wants man and animals to populate the Earth. The only difference is man's right to subdue and dominate the Earth.

~It is verses in the Bible such as the one above that are used to support the DP position that marriages aren't eternal and that now Moon has finally brought man "Eternal" marriages that transcend death.

~Early on in Moon's ministry in America, Moon gave a series of question and answer sessions that were translated into "Master Speaks" and were distributed to the members to study from. One of the questions that were asked concerned the "Blessing". Moon was asked if it was acceptable to be married to another person if your spouse died and you were left alone. Moon replied and said that the answer was "No", that the blessing was eternal, and as such you could not remarry while your spouse was waiting for you in the spirit world.

~That would follow his teaching of the marriage "Blessing" being an eternal event. But as time went by, something happened. Moon began to give what is known as a "Comfort Blessing". This blessing was for spouses of previously blessed couples who had lost their wife or husband. These special cases (usually church leaders) were allowed not only to remarry, but to have children with the "new" wife as well. The question then naturally follows: "What happened to the ETERNAL part?" And when these children are born of different fathers and mothers, some sharing fathers, some sharing mothers, in the "spirit world", whose children will they be?

~Clearly, nothing "Eternal" is going on in Moon's "Blessings", just some old fashioned "Convenience". Moon is smart enough to know that happy leaders, not depressed at the prospect of being forced to live alone the rest of their lives when their spouses pass away prematurely, will stick around longer and work harder than "Lonely" ones. Moon will do what is expedient for him, even at the cost of contradicting what is supposed to be "Absolute" doctrines. Furthermore, consider the above verse once more:

~Moon has "Blessed" or married people he says, in the spirit world, AFTER they have died. But interestingly, in the verse above, Jesus (You remember Him?) says that they will not marry EVEN "AFTER" DEATH, OR THE RESURRECTION!

~This is signficant because Moon claims that the "Resurrection" is the time when the Messiah comes back and the Spirit People who have died can then "Resurrect" to a higher Spiritual Plane. But Jesus Christ has told us that people will not marry even AFTER the Resurrection, whereas Moon has claimed to have done, what Jesus said will NOT be done! Now we must decide: Do I believe Moon, or Jesus?

This Blessing seems more of a CURSE !
