FAST-FACTS: PART-2
Sun Myung Moon

RETURN TO PART-1

TIMELINE CONTINUED

  • 1967
  • Moon's Illigitimate Son Dies In Train Accident
Moon's son Hee Jin was born of an adulterous affair with Myung Hee Kim, a young college student from Korea. He died in1967 in a tragic train accident at 13 years old. Moon explains in one speech that this son was doing a "mission" at the time which Moon conpared to IOWC (International One World Crusade).
  • Moon Reportedly Has Another Affair
In information I have received from ex-members of the Unification Church, which has also been verified in news reports from 60 Minutes, and newspaper interviews by Robert Parry conducted with intimates of Hyo Jin Moon, it is alleged that Sun Myung Moon had another adulterous affair. This time in his most recent marriage with Hak Ja Han. The affair was said to have occurred in the home of long time disciple and president of The Washington Times Nespaper: Bo Hi Pak, and with the full knowledge of Moon's wife. The affair, with a young church member, supposedly had a "spiritual" justification in Moon's belief system, and the child of that affair was named publicly in several news outlets. This event, possibly more than any other except Hyo Jin Moon's drug problems and divorce, has caused turmoil and Mass Exodus out of the Unification Church.

  • 1971
  • Moon's "Official" Arrival In America
1971 is offered as the beginning of Moon's personal involvement with his ministry in America. I have seen other sources give the date as 1972, but 1971 is the one used on www.unification.org, the official moonie website. Moon previously came to America in 1965 and gave a series of talks with members. These question and answer sessions were translated into the now infamous: Master Speaks. The visit in 1965 is not discussed in the UC, partially due to embarrassment over the Master Speaks tapes, which presented Moon's clear intentions of assuming control over the American Government through his members seeking offical public office throughout the country. In fact, several unsuccessful campaigns for public office have been staged by members of Moon's church. I believe that one moonie was successful in getting elected to office, but I have not obtained details of this. When I do, I will post it here.
NOTE:What has been often overlooked, is that Moon was already a Millionaire at the time he came to America, with resources estimated (in 1970's money) at 15 Million Dollars. His members were already running hugely profitable factories and businesses in Korea and Japan, and I believe this gave Moon confidence that he would do the same in America. Most of Moon's ventures have been financial disasters in America. But many of them, though they are financial failures, are huge power building bases. The Washington Times Newspaper alone, can never be underestimated as a power base for Moon's manipulation of American society.

  • 1973
  • 21-City Speaking Tour
International One World Crusade or IOWC was initiated in 1973. Moon gave speeches in 21 cities and was given hundreds of proclamations and keys to the city by various mayors and public officials. As news of Moon's true objectives would leak out, this environment of "welcome" would change.

  • 1974
  • (Sept. 18) Day Of Hope Crusade
Moon begins an 8 city tour of The United States beginning in New York at Madison Square Gardens then continuing to Philadelphia, Wash. DC, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
  • (Sept. 18) Madison Square Garden Rally
Moon spoke to an audience estimated at 25,000. It drew national media attention, due in large part to organized protests outside. Psychic Jean Dixon was a speaker at the event. She gave a courteous but very general message, saying "Surely, Rev. Moon, your day of hope will come." The moonies later claimed that she was supposed to testify that Moon was the messiah.
  • (October 8) Moon speaks before Congress
Moon gave an invitational address before congress, with the speech "America in God's Providence".

  • 1975
  • (June 7) World Rally for Korean Freedom
Moon speaks at Yoido Island in Seoul Korea. Moon is only one of numerous speakers at the event, but the Unification Church holds up the event as if it were a Moon rally, like the Madison Square Garden event. This is done, because there were an estimated 1 million people in attendance. The Rally was not a Moon event, but was a political event, organised to address issues involving Korean security from hostile communist neighbors.

MOON IS NO BILLY GRAHAM!
In 1973 Billy Graham also spoke at Yoido Plaza for one of his Billy Graham Crusades events. Speaking there two years before Moon, Dr. Graham, was the speaker and organiser of the event and the sole reason the people had come, unlike the Rev. Moon who was only a small speaker at an event that had nothing to do with Moon or his movement. Billy Graham attracted a crowd well over a million people, which was confirmed with computer tabulation, and unlike Moon, they had come simply to hear Billy Graham share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Korean translator later said that he had never witnessed a Korean audience that large be so still and attentive.

  • (Dec. 18) Moon speaks at Capitol Hill
Moon spoke at Capitol Hill with the message "God's Plan for America" according to moonie sources, it was attended by two hundred representatives including sixty Congressmen and Senators.
  • 1976
  • (June 1) Yankee Stadium Rally
Moon gave the speech "God's Hope for America". Heavy winds blew much of the stage decorations and signs everywhere.
  • (Sept. 18) Washington Monument Rally
Billed as the "Bicentennial God Bless America Festival", it drew a crowd that the moonies estimate at 300,000. Moon is an expert at taking the attention that would be due something: I.E. The Bicentennial (200 year) Celebration of America's birth, and using that as a guise for directing the attention toward Moon instead. He delivered the speech "America and God's Will". The moonies claim that this event was the largest religious event held in the nation's capitol (I guess the moonies were all on vacation for Louis Farrakhan's Million Man March in Washington DC?) In any event, Moon's event is not listed with the National Park Service as having had that many people.

  • 1982
  • Moon Convicted Of Income Tax Evasion
Moon is sentenced to 18 Months in prison and fined $25,000. According to one source, Moon was convicted of the following:

MOON FOUND GUILTY OF:
  1. Conspiracy to make false statements to government agencies in violation of 18 U.S.C. 371 and 1001.
  2. Conspiracy to make false statements to a federal grand jury in violation of 18 U.S.C. 371 and 1823.
  3. Conspiracy to obstruct justice in violation of 18 U.S.C. 371 and 1503.
  4. Conspiracy to file false federal income tax returns in violation of 18 U.S.C. 371 and 26 U.S.C. 7206(1).

  • 1984
  • (July 20) Moon Goes To Prison
Moon had stated that it must be God's will that he go to prison, but he appealed his conviction all the way up to the Supreme Court of The United States, just to be sure. Because of good conduct, he is released after 11 months. Moon served 6 more weeks in a half-way house in Brooklyn called Phoenix House.

  • 1985
  • (August 20) Moon released from Danbury Prison
Moon served his time, and was released on Aug. 20th. In a later speech, Moon actually said that supportive ex-moonies, had offered to secure a helicopter and rescue him from prison. (Editor's Note: "Yeah, sure they did.")
  • (August 20) God and Freedom Banquet
In one of the most repulsive episodes in Christian leadership, Moon assembled an enormous group of so-called Christian Ministers (1700 according to church sources) that celebrated Moon's release from prison. Jerry Falwell and Joseph Lowery were two notable ministers that gave speeches. Jerry Falwell reportedly even called for a presidential pardon for Moon. Moon served them an expensive dinner, and they talked about religious freedom and separation of church and state. Money had united them...not truth, not God, and not Sun Myung Moon...but money, the god they all serve together.

  • 1990
  • (April) Moon Meets Mikhail Gorbachev
The Soviet Union opened up to the Unification Church and Sun Myung Moon. No doubt the economic incentives were the impetus. Moon held three of his organizations conferences simultaneously in The Soviet Union, bringing much wanted American cash there. The World Media Conference, the Summit Council for World Peace, and the Conference for the Unity of Latin America all held large meetings filling up hotels and restaurants and infusing a good deal of money into the Soviet economy. Moon was allowed a very brief private meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev, where according to UC sources, they discussed "world peace" and "Korean re-unification" issues. My understanding, however, is that Gorbachev hit Moon up for economic aid and investments for The Soviet Union. I dan't have details yet of whether it was granted or not. But I can say that an American Christian Missionary from Russia, told me that Moon had in effect purchased an entire city in Russia. The missionary also told me that groups like Moon's were causing government persecution of traditional Christian religions witnessing efforts.

  • 1991
  • (Dec. 6) Moon Meets Kim Il Sung
Moon met North Korean president Kim Il Sung at the end of a week long visit to Moon's birthplace. Moon saw many of his North Korean relatives for the first time, since the Korean War four decades earlier. Moon's relatives cried to see him after so long, but Moon did not cry. As Moon told his followers later, he cannot cry for his family until he fulfills God's providence. Moon also mentioned in another speech how he didn't even cry at the death of a young son that died in a car accident. Moon said he pulled the plug on his own son's life support system to send him to the spirit world to do God's will. When Moon's wife cried at the death of this son. Moon scolded her about it. Moon later cried for his dead son, he says, after he got back reports from another country that the Unification Church had made some "victories" there. These are Moon's own explanations. Pretty sick, isn't it?

  • 1992
  • (July 6) Moon's Public Declaration As The Messiah
In a speech entitled "The Reappearance of True Parents and the Ideal Family", Moon declared that he and his wife together were The Lord Of The Second Advent.
