Released February 20th., 2004.

If this month had one highlight, it would have to be the great series of Songwriters shows that were produced and broadcast this month. We started off strong on February 6th., with Paul Thorn, from Tupelo, Mississippi, who spoke about his new album "Are You With Me?", and his work with co-writer Billy Maddux.

That show was followed by the interview with Maple Blues Award Winner, J.W. Jones on February 13th, who talked about working with Kim Wilson (of The Fabulous Thunderbirds) and Colin James on his new CD "My Kind of Evil". Special thanks to Steve and Tony at Fred's Records for their help on that one!

Today's show featured the beautiful and talented Ann Burstyn, of Dream Aria, and featuring music from their debut CD "In The Wake". A classy lady, who'se talent is matched only by her almost limitless energy, Ann's voice is second to none!

Last, but certainly not least, finishing off the February Line up next week, will be Paul Reddick (the former front man of the Sidemen) and his debut solo album "Villanelle". Produced by Canadian Blues Master Colin Linden, Villanelle is a great album, and the interview promises to be an interesting one!

In other news, Klaatu have big plans for the impending release of their Boxed Set (To be called The SUN SET). Fans First Inc. are hosting Klaatu Kon 2005 in Toronto, May 7 - 9. It will be the first time all three members of the band have appeared together in 23 years, and get this... They will be performing a Special Live Unplugged Show! It promises to be a great Weekend, and I am Sooooo There!

I was talking with Sharon Vernon of Fans First, who told me, "All the staff are looking forward to working with Klaatu fans from around the world. We have people coming from Canada, the US, Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany." (And Newfoundland... Don't Forget Newfoundland!)

"There are still plenty of tickets available to those still interested in coming." She went on to say, "We're really excited to be able to put on this once-in-a-lifetime event. We know those coming won't be disappointed!" For more information, visit their website, at www.fansfirstinc.com

There have been some interesting developements on the local music scene as well. I was talking with Steve Hussey, who has been working on a new CD with local guitarist Duane Andrews. Steve is no stranger to the Music scene, as he has appeared on an impressive list of projects. None the less, it's great to finally see that he is working on one of his own!

"We've been really busy lately, playing gig's all over the place", He told me, "Which has slowed the process down." Although no firm release date has been announced, Steve has high hopes of having it ready for this summer. Definately something to look forward to!

The rumour mill has been working overtime on wether or not Sandy Morris will be releasing a CD soon. I was talking with Sandy last week, and he confirmed that "It's something that I have always wanted to do. The release date is March 16th, with the CD Release Party at the Ship Inn from 6:30 - 8:30 pm that night. There'll be an official press release on it soon and I'll make sure you get a copy for The Songwriters!"

IRONWORKS made an appearance at a Benefit Concert held at The S.S. MEIGLE Lounge, in Seal Cove. They were scheduled to appear as guests on the Songwriters back in January, but had to cancil at the last minute due to a bad bout of the flu. A tentative reschedule date has been set up for April, pending completion of their Demo CD.

IRONWORKS Lead Guitarist, Bernie Scott, told me "We're working on it every chance we get, but it's slow going. We're hoping to have something together soon, and as soon as it is done to every ones satisfaction, we'll be paying (The Songwriters) a visit."

Speaking of the Songwriters... The schedule for March is done. Right now it looks like this:

Sunday, March 6th.; Reverend Billy C. Wirtz (Featuring his latest CD)
Sunday, March 13th.; Hot Tin Roof (A Soul Band from Sweden!)
Sunday, March 20th.; Jeff Greene (Featuring his Latest CD)
Sunday, March 27th.; Richard Shindell (Featuring his Latest CD)

Although it could change... so keep your ear to the ground, or at least to CHMR!

Many of the above mentioned artists have CD's available. If you would like to pick up a copy of any of these CD's, (In person or online), just visit Fred's Records. They have the best selection of local music you're likely to find, along with all your favorites!

In on Air News;

For the Month of February, I tried another angle with the Monday Night Epic, beyond single epic songs, or Trilogies like we did in January. I got the idea from an old poster at the house for a Hammingwell show. The Monday Night Epic this month will feature "February Floyd"! What is that you ask? Tune into Cosmic Debris to find out when the Monday Night Epic is played in February!

We did something a Little Different with The Blind Lemon Blues in January... We had a guest Live on air. Noted Writer and Reviewer Dianne Wells (AKA D.D. Rocker) came in and talked some Blues! Not only that, she signed on for board classes and is planning to do a show on CHMR.

The last show of The Blind Lemon Blues for January, and the first show of the Hangover Cure in February, were also a little different. They were both shows of all "Double Shots", 2 songs by the same artist. It was just an experiment that recieved some very favorable feedback, so we will just have to wait and see if we try it again.

I also pre-recorded a Valentines Hangover Cure, featuring 2 hours of some of the best Love songs, including a selection of cuts from the Feature album, Paul Thorn's, "Are You With Me". That was a perfect album for that show, as all the songs on that album are about love and one to one relationships!

So here's hoping you had a Happy Valentines.

Keep The Faith and See you next month!
