What The Hell Is "The Sunday Morning Hangover Cure"?

(Look for Links while you read!)

As you probably already know, I hosted a show called Cosmic Debris every Sunday at 11:00 am on 93.5 CHMR-FM. In the fall of 1998, the show was moved to Primetime, which left a void in the Sunday Morning schedule. I didn't know what had replaced me on Sunday Morning until that fateful day...

It was about a month later, and I was driving into town on a cold Sunday Morning. The radio was on in the van, tuned to a local station. It was some disco thumpin' top fourty countdown chart show that if listened to long enough would cause permanent brain damage! The next station was the same thing... different host, same mindless music... Then out of idle curiousity, I turned on CHMR to see what was on in my place. To be honest, the shock of what was on almost put me off the road! There was a "Slasher Death Metal" show on that I can only describe as an assualt on the ear's! My immediate reaction was "Jesus... Sunday Morning Radio would kill anyone with a hangover!"

It was then and there that I decided to go back on the air Sunday Mornings, with a show that better reflected the time and day... but what to do?

Cosmic Debris was still going strong based on Concept shows, and The Songwriters had not even been thought of. Then my slightly off colour reaction to the Death Metal Show ran through the remains of my mind. I said to myself, "Self? You should do a show for all those poor buggers that are waking up Sunday morning with a bad hangover. There are sure to be a few in this city."

But what would cure a Hangover?

A Little Hair of the Dog?

Heavy Sedation?

"I KNOW" I thought, "Light Sounds and Easy Listening! Give the listener a break from all the pop tripe that stains the airways on Sunday Mornings!"

So... every Sunday Morning at 10:00 am, you can hear the best in light sounds and easy listening, on the "Sunday Morning Hangover Cure", only on 93.5 CHMR - FM, or on the web, Via MP3 Stream or Real Audio at www.mun.ca/chmr
