Wilkinson retains Presidency

"WILKINSON RE-ELECTED TO LEAD JAMAICA CHESS FEDERATION"

Ian Wilkinson, principal in the law firm Ian Wilkinson and Associates, retained his post as president of the Jamaica Chess Federation (JCF) over the weekend.

Wilkinson, who was first elected to the post in 2003, was re-elected unopposed at the JCF’s annual general meeting held at the Shirley Retreat Hotel on Saturday. He will lead the JCF until 2007.

Also re-elected unopposed was Vice President with responsibility for the county of Cornwall, Mark Holness. Former Secretary Robert Wheeler was elected unopposed as Treasurer and Germaine Griffiths was elected unopposed to the post of Secretary.

The Vice president post for the County of Middlesex, was contested by the incumbent Peter Myers and challenger Daren Wisdom. Myers won by a vote of 21-2. The post of Vice President for the county of Surrey was contested by Adrian Palmer and recently crowned National Chess Champion Warren Elliott. Elliott won by a 17-6 margin.

The rest of the 14 member Executive Council elected to support the six officers include: Shane Matthews, Sidley Matthews, Mark Henry, Daren Wisdom, Malaku Lorne, Michael Ramsay, Richard O’Sullivan and Adrian Palmer.
