Dolly Rebecca Parton is famous as a singer, writer, actress and business woman. Today, she is one of the most successful American icons, because she has managed to be a colonel, that says she has managed to control her own life and career.

She can look back on a long career as an artist and an actress. She has been at the top of international charts, she has sold several million records and she has played many leading roles in Hollywood productions.

Dolly was born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, 19th January, 1946. Her family was very poor. She was the fourth of twelve children to whom her mother gave birth between the age of 15 to the age of 35. Dolly was a very vivid imagitive child, and at an early age she was playing the guitar and singing. At the age of 12 Dolly had her first appearance on television.

At the age of 14 she made her first single (Puppy Love/Girl Left Alone) on Gold Brand Records, Louisiana. Johnny Cash introduced her to an audience of 2000 persons at the legendary Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville, Tennessee. Porter Wagoner heard her hit tune Dumb Blonde in 1967, and he invited her to sing in his TV show. They had a long co-operation and several disc recordings.

At the age of 20 Dolly married Carl Dean. They are still married, although it has been rumoured that she has had affairs with other men as Porter Wagoner, the manager Sandy Gallin and Burt Reynolds.

In the 1970'thies Dolly was a popular actress. She starred in many films as 9 to 5 with Jane Fonda, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with Burt Reynolds, Steel Magnolias with Julia Roberts and Rhinestone with Sylvester Stallone.

Dolly is the queen of hillbilly and a duchess of country music. She has written the beautiful song I Will Always Love You. Whitney Houston made I Will Always Love You to a hit tune on international charts. Dolly introduced the standard of modern pop country, but she sings others' songs on the album Treasures. In 1998 she published once more her own songs on the impressive album Hungry Again, that combines country, folk and gospel. In 2002 her album Halos and Horns was released.

Dolly has her own entertainment park Dollywood at the foot of Smokey Mountains, Tennessee. There she also have her own radio station.

Dolly Parton's definitive golden age is from 1971 to 1975. In this period she published "Coat Of Many Colors" and "Jolene", which includes the original version of the exquisite the love song "I Will Always Love You".

In the age of CDs "Coat Of Many Colors" and "Jolene" is mated respectively with "Joshua" (1971) and "My Tennesee Home". The fresh blue grass trilogy, which consists of "The Grass Is Blue" (1999), "Little Sparrow" (2001) and "Halos and Horns" (2002), shows Dolly Parton's unique creativity. The album "Mission Chapel Memories 1971-75" presents Dolly's golden age in an unique way. The newly published CD "Ultimate Dolly Parton" is a very good presentation of Dolly Parton's career.
